Sprig Mould

This two-piece sprig mould takes all the work out of making and placing a sprig onto your pottery pieces.  The two parts are assembled and then pressed into a 1/4" or 5mm thick slab of clay that has been dusted with cornstarch or baby powder.  Once the sprig mould is filled with clay, the excess is wired off.  The level surface is then scored and covered with slip.  Next, the outer wall of the mould is removed, and the clay-
covered sprig plate is aligned with the mug using the guidelines imprinted on the back of the plate.  Once the clay on the surface of the plate has been stuck onto the side of the mug, the plate is removed.  The sprig moulds can be custom- made to fit your particular design ideas.  Email artisanpotterytools@gmail.com. for additional information.
